The Louis is a double-breasted raincoat with an Australian oversize fit. Derived from one of our archive pieces from the late 70s, it is surprising for its ample proportions. The raglan sleeve is deep and mobile, derived from riding raincoats, the fabric is a frosted cotton fabric with a velvety hand, given precisely by the ground surface that recalls the touch of the surface of a peach, hence the name.
The fit is straight even though the considerable width makes it appear flared, the lining is in cotton as in the archive item but it has an additional detachable wool lining, which can be removed or added via a zip depending on whether the climate is more or less warm.
A special feature is the third pocket on the waist. Slightly smaller than the two main pockets, it is called a ticket pocket in slang, the pocket to store the ticket. In general, it is a convenient pocket that allows you to store important or delicate things in order to keep them separate from the main pocket, where you keep your hands and or gloves. Inside, the garment is equipped with two “thieves” pockets, that is, those to store the wallet, in the safest and most internal point.
The garment, once fully closed, is also equipped with a chin strap that can tighten the raised neck for perfect protection from the cold and rain. If the chin strap is to be stored, it can be hooked internally to the buttons located next to the thief pocket.
The buttons, today made of plastic material, are an imitation of Corozo, also known as “vegetable ivory”, a material obtained from the seeds of a palm tree from the South American rainforest.
