An original, iconic trench coat of military origin. The trench coat has a slim, ankle-length silhouette and a double-breasted closure with five rows of buttons. When the cape is raised, a button underneath allows the lapel to be closed all the way to the top and the cape to be closed over it, ensuring a watertight seal. The collar features a hook-and-eye closure and a chin strap with a buckle and buttons. The belt and chin strap eyelets, to avoid being damaged by the metal prongs of the hand-stitched leather-covered buckles, are made with metal grommets; the same grommets are also found on the cuff straps. The belt features metal rings originally used to attach hand grenades, and the buttoned epaulettes on the shoulders were used to secure binoculars, muskets, canteens, and anything else needed to be secured during a rapid attack by enemy forces. The trench coat is in fact a garment that has come down to us unchanged from the tradition of the First World War, being precisely a trench garment.
The garment is made of a very tight technical gabardine and is unlined with the internal seams finished with contrasting ribbons. Inside, the garment also features a removable padded lining in quilted technical fabric. The removable lining is fastened with our historic buttoning method, which does not require eyelets, but leaves spaces in the perimeter seam of the garment to accommodate the buttons.

Models with a detachable liner maintain our regular fit. However, we recommend sizing up if worn over a jacket.
